Minister of Governance and Anadarko Officials Hold Discussions
Representatives of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation; Mr. Luis Derrota, Associate General Counsel and Mr. Richard Lapin, International Business Development held discussions with the Hon. Raphael Trotman MP, Minister of Governance and other Officials of Sector and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Objective was to provide an update to the Hon. Minister of the company’s proposed work programme for the development of hydrocarbons in Guyana.
Anadarko Guyana Company has an exploration licence for the Roraima Block in the ultra-deep-water offshore Guyana and expressed how keen it is to recommence its activities. The representatives reaffirmed their commitment to explore their prospecting area and were supportive of Guyana’s efforts to have a peaceful resolution to the boundary dispute with Venezuela.
Minister Trotman assured the representatives of Anadarko Petroleum Cooperation that the Government of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana will continue to take relevant measures to preserve its sovereignty.
Anadarko is among the world’s largest independent oil and natural gas exploration and production companies, with 2.86 BBOE of proved reserves at year-end 2014.
