Press Release
Minister of Natural Resources conducts inspection of East Bank Berbice areas affected by weather
The Minister of Natural Resources Hon. Raphael Trotman on August 21st, as promised at the community meeting held at Highbury on Friday, August 16, returned to East Bank Berbice to conduct a visit to identified areas affected by rain and flooding.
The Wednesday visit, comes after a successful East Bank Berbice outreach where residents raised the issues of drainage affecting farming areas. Though the entire area was unable to be covered due to the inclement weather, the Minister was shown, and witnessed first hand, the state of drainage and other concerns in the area. Minister Trotman undertook to prepare a report to be presented to the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority to assist in alleviating the drainage issues.
Though issues mostly relate to drainage, the Ministry of Natural Resources will provide support in whatever way it can to ensure that the concerns are addressed.
The Ministry is pleased to have had a successful return visit to Berbice, and looks forward to continued engagement and cooperation with the citizens to ensure they experience the good life they deserve.
