(Georgetown, Guyana) – Hon. Raphael Trotman on June 14, 2018 received a courtesy visit from His Excellency, Mr. Alexander S. Kurmaz, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, non-resident Ambassador to Barbados, Grenada, The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

During the visit, Hon. Raphael Trotman updated Ambassador Kurmaz on current areas of cooperation between the two countries within the natural resources sector including the work of the Russia/ Guyana Working Group that was officially established in October 2017. Other areas of common interest to Guyana and Russia were also discussed.
Hon. Raphael Trotman expressed his appreciation for the good relationship that the two countries share and assured the Ambassador of Guyana’s commitment to further strengthening the relationship. Ambassador Kurmaz also expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome from the Hon. Minister and noted that Russia sees Guyana a friend.
