Natural Resources Minister, Hon. Vickram Bharrat, MP along with a team of technical officers from the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr. Lennox Shuman met with Mr. Nicholas Fredericks, Chairman of the National Toshaos Council, and Executive Members of the South Rupununi District Council.
The meeting discussed several issues relating to opportunities for Amerindian Communities and other social development within Region 9. Additionally, the meeting agreed for greater collaboration amongst regulatory agencies in the area of security and mining. As such, follow up meetings will be held to provide updates and discuss the way forward for a more coordinated approach to resolve the issues highlighted.
